Board-certified pathologists are available to do immediate assessments of fine needle aspirations and frozen section biopsies onsite at physician offices and outpatient surgical centers throughout Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania.

James M. Monihan, M.D.
James M. Monihan, M.D., FCAP, is the President and Medical Director of Allied Diagnostic Pathology Consultants. A native of Wilmington, Dr. Monihan graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1984 and subsequently completed his pathology residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Following an assignment as a staff pathologist and director of the blood program at Fort Bragg, NC, Dr. Monihan served for two years in the Hepatic and Gastrointestinal Branch of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.
Board-certified in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Dr. Monihan’s research has been published in journals including the American Journal of Surgical Pathology, Human Pathology and the American Journal of Gastroenterology, as well as presented at national and international meetings. His teaching experience has included assistant professorships at the Medical College of Georgia and the Uniformed Services University of Health Services, as well as presentations at institutions such as Temple University, Bethesda National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Practicing at St. Francis Hospital since 1994, Dr. Monihan also serves as the Laboratory Medical Director and Chairman of Pathology.

Michael del la Cruz, M.D.
Michael de la Cruz, M.D., FCAP is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Dr. de la Cruz graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, in 2005. He completed his pathology residency and surgical pathology fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Healthcare System. During his training, he obtained a broad knowledge in the field of pathology including surgicalpathology, cytopathology and hematopathology.
Dr. de la Cruz practiced pathology at Kennedy University Hospital in NJ for three years prior to joining Allied Diagnostic Pathology Consultants in July of 2013. While at Kennedy, he served as an assistant professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to his clinical duties, he also presented teaching lectures to medical students in various aspects of clinical and surgical pathology, and mentored students and residents during pathology rotations.
Dr. de la Cruz served as subspecialty director of hematology and microbiology at St. Francis Hospital until 2018. He currently holds the role of Laboratory Medical Director at Jennersville Hospital, West Grove, PA and Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville, PA.

Xiaoli Chen, M.D.
Xiaoli Chen, M.D., FCAP, M.B.A. is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology. Dr. Chen received her medical degree from Peking University Health Science Center, Beijing, China and completed her pathology residency and fellowship in cytopathology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. Dr. Chen received a MBA from Yale University School of Management. She spent fourteen years as the Medical Director of Drexel University College of Medicine Pathology Diagnostics Laboratory in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Chen is now the Laboratory Medical Director at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes, DE. Dr. Chen provides expertise in diagnostic surgical pathology, cytopathology, and clinical pathology and leadership and management experience to Beebe Healthcare Laboratory and Hospital. Dr. Chen joined Allied Pathology at Beebe Hospital in April 2016.

Ray Armand, M.D.
Pathologist
Dr. Ray Armand completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, followed by a fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology. In addition to general pathology practice in the hospital setting, Dr. Armand has experience as a pathologist in reference laboratory, including interpreting esoteric testing such as flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular tests in hematopathology and surgical pathology. Dr. Armand has published several papers in peer reviewed medical journals and has presented at pathology conferences. Dr. Armand is a graduate of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. He lives with his wife in Mullica Hill, NJ. In their free time they visit various attractions and enjoy traveling. Dr. Armand joined Allied Pathology in 2017.

Yongling Bian, M.D.
Pathologist
Yongling Bian, MD, FCAP is board-certified in clinic and anatomic pathology and cytopathology. After receiving her medical degree from Anhwei Medical School, China, Dr. Bian completed her pathology residency at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She performed her fellowship in cytopathology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She had held teaching appointment at Thomas Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Bian has presented in national and international conferences and her research has been published in various professional Journals. She has a special interest in fine needle aspiration cytology and diagnostic surgical pathology. Dr. Bian provides substantial experience and expertise in diagnostic surgical pathology and cytopathology. Dr. Bian joined Allied Pathology in January 2004.

Joseph Depenbusch, M.D.
Pathologist
Joseph Depenbusch, M.D., FCAP, FASCP is board-certified in both anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa. Directly after medical school Dr. Depenbusch went to Michigan State University where he did basic pharmacological research in the drug treatment of tropical parasitic diseases. He then completed his Anatomic Pathology Residency at Penn State University at the Hershey Medical Center,and his Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. After his residencies, Dr. Depenbusch performed a fellowship in surgical pathology and electron microscopy at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Dr. Depenbusch practiced pathology in Indiana, Pennsylvania And Delaware for twenty years before joining Allied Pathology in March 2006. Dr. Depenbusch brings diverse experience in all areas of anatomic pathology as well as in clinical pathology, having served at various times as director of chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology divisions of the clinical laboratory.

Maria Dizon, M.D.
Pathologist
Maria A. Dizon, MD., FASCP is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Dizon is a graduate of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She went on to complete her pathology residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, where she was chief resident in her fourth year. She continued with a fellowship in surgical pathology the following year. Following training, Dr. Dizon went on to practice surgical pathology and cytopathology for twenty years in western Pennsylvania, until 2019 when she joined Allied Pathology, returning “home” to the Philadelphia area.

Regina Meara, M.D.
Pathologist
Regina S. Meara, M.D., FCAP, FASCP is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as cytopathology. Originally from Chicago, Dr. Meara graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI in 2001. She completed her pathology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She also completed fellowships in both surgical pathology and cytopathology at UAB. During her cytopathology fellowship, Dr. Meara gained considerable experience in immediate assessment and diagnostic interpretation of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration cytology specimens. She also gained expertise in thin-prep Pap test interpretation and cervical pathology correlation.
Dr. Meara has presented research at several national pathology conferences. In addition, several of her studies have been published in various medical journals. Dr. Meara practiced pathology in Alabaster, AL before joining Allied Pathology in 2010.

Hang Zhou M.D.
Pathologist
Hang Zhou M.D. is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Zhou completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical pathology at Temple University Hospital, followed by a Surgical Pathology fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital and and then a Cytopathology fellowship at Ohio State University. Dr. Zhou is a graduate of Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences in Changchun, China. Prior to joining Allied Pathology in August 2021, Dr. Zhou practiced pathology at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, Ohio with Bayless Path Inc. for 3 years, where he also served as the subspecialty director of Chemistry. He lives with his wife and children in Lewes, DE and in his free time enjoys traveling and sports.

Janet Bandekow
Pathologists’ Assistant
Janet completed her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Allied Health in 2003. She worked as a laboratory technician, tissue procurement coordinator, mortician services coordinator, and research assistant until earning a Master of Science at Drexel University College of Medicine’s Pathologists’ Assistant Program in 2010. From 2010 to 2014, Janet worked as a Pathologists’ Assistant at the Pathology Diagnostics Laboratory in Philadelphia, PA. From 2014 to 2019, she served as the Pathologists’ Assistant and Quality Improvement Coordinator for the Department of Anatomic Pathology at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia, PA. Janet joined Allied Pathology full-time at the Beebe Healthcare location in 2019.
Janet has been an adjunct professor at Eastern University’s Esperanza College instructing Anatomy & Physiology. Janet is a member of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants and is certified through the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Meredith Robinson
Pathologists’ Assistant
Meredith Robinson received her BS from Salisbury University in 2004 and her Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration in 2017 from Towson University and University of Baltimore. After working at Johns Hopkins for ten years, (nine of which she was a pathologists’ assistant) her family moved to Cecil County where she joined the Allied Diagnostic Pathology Consultants team as their pathologists’ assistant. Meredith has been working for Allied Pathology since November of 2017.

Jennifer Mulrooney
Practice Manager
Jennifer Mulrooney holds the role of Practice Manager at Allied Diagnostic Pathology Consultants since 2016. She is responsible for the overall business functions of the practice including hospital and external client services, human resources, patient billing, administrative oversight and overall financial operations. Prior to this role at Allied Pathology, Jennifer spent seven years as a Program Director of Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy through Healogics™ gaining clinical operations and healthcare management experience at area hospitals in Delaware & Philadelphia. Before moving into healthcare, Jennifer held roles as an Account Manager and District Manager with Aramark Uniform Services. A New Jersey native, she graduated from the University of Delaware in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with Leadership and Consumer Economics concentration and a minor in Political Science. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys traveling with her husband and two children, staying active outdoors, gardening and live music.
